About
Hi I’m Derek, or Enchi Jiang (姜恩池) in Chinese!
I was born in China and moved to the USA in August 2012. I’m currently a freshman at Cornell University.
Computer science is my passion. To change the world is my goal. Contact me if you share either.
Here you can find my blogs, which are rare, and projects, of which hopefully there will be plenty.
I value conciseness, in coding or in writing.
I am/was/will be a/an:
- Intern Software Developer at Nebula
- Intern Systems Developer at TheKeep, a NYC startup
- Intern Web Developer at Sonicpanther, a California startup
- Lead Backend Developer at Yorango, an Ithaca startup
- Associative Systems Administrator at the Legal Information Institute at Cornell
- engineer at the Cornell Mars Rover project team
- member of the Cornell ACM programming team
- member of the Cornell Computer Reuse Association
- KPCB Engineering Fellow 2013
Random things about me:
- First and foremost, I consider myself a web developer
- I believe cloud computing and artificial intelligence are the themes of this century
- Python and CoffeeScript are my favourite programming languages
- However I’m most proficient in Java
- Django is better then RoR, I think
- I prefer using IDE over text editors like vi (vim) or emacs
- However I use Sublime Text 2 in a daily basis
- Writing in Markdown is a fascination for me
